Our Family's First Outing

On Saturday morning, the three of us woke up determined to spend some time together and venture out for some fresh air. Long Grove's Chocolate Fest was Friday, Saturday and Sunday and we felt like maybe we could make it our first family outing and stroll along the town, sampling food, shopping and soaking in some warm air.

We arrived at the fest, shocked that there were so many people! It has never been so crowded. But, after we circled the parking lots and found the one lone space to park, we put Auggie in the stroller and made a beeline for the apple cider donut tent. You couldn't wipe the smiles off our faces as we shared the morning with our son, enjoying being a family. We also noticed how differently we looked at life with a stroller in our hands. It wasn't easy to maneuver in stores with a baby... people were walking into the stroller left and right, oblivious... at last we have a place to put all the goodies we bought...there is a spot for our water bottle and iced coffee and its not in Heather's purse...going down stairs with a stroller is a challenge...little kids gravitate towards the stroller, a baby and the dog toy hanging off the side...nice ladies make conversation with you and compliment you on your beautiful baby.

Though it was a quick 2 hour adventure, we made sure to stuff our faces and embraced the warm spring morning. The most memorable snack...pulled pork nachos and Pat's fried cookie dough (see below). We look forward to visiting Long Grove again this year for Strawberry Fest, Apple Fest and very possibly October Fest.
