The Start of our Summer

Life has been so busy these past few weeks! Auggie is 7 weeks old today and he has had a multitude of activities added to his social calendar, hit a few milestones, seen more visitors and even had his first vacation. Time has flown by and since there are fewer naps and more awake time with our little boy, our blog updates have been on hold. Since time is precious and there are only a few minutes to stuff a meal down your throat, working on the computer is the last on the list. However, we wanted to share a few new pictures and snapshots of moments in his life so far....

Auggie had his first vacation in the middle of May to visit Mom and Dad's favorite place, Door County. We hit our favorite spots and then visited our property to introduce our little man to the spot of his future cabin! It just so happened that the weekend we were there, our favorite restaurant, The White Gull Inn, was being nominated by Good Morning America as the best breakfast in the country! Americans were asked to vote on Saturday morning and of course we did! We have been going to Door County for six years this October and I don't think we had ever missed a leisurely and amazingly delicious breakfast from The White Gull. Pat has always ordered the Cherry and Cream Cheese Stuffed French Toast, which just so happened to be the breakfast item that put the restaurant on the map. That Sunday morning GMA announced that the White Gull was the winner of the best breakfast and we headed over to congratulate them and eat! Perfect timing. August got to have his first visit at the White Gull (above) though he slept the whole time, and Daddy got to enjoy his favorite breakfast (below).

Auggie attended his first parade this past weekend in honor of Memorial Day (above with Grandpa and Dad). The parade goes by Grandpa Pat and Grandma Holly's house, so he got to watch, despite a few rain showers at the end. Though he is too young to stand at the edge of the curb to catch the candy that gets thrown from the cars and floats, we can sense that will be his favorite part in the future!!!

We spent the rest of Memorial Day at the pool in Woodstock and we bought this little sun hat for him to wear. Needless to say, he hates it! But of course we think its cute!

We had our first official playdate of summer with our cousin Jaxon and Aunt Jill at the Woodstock Farmer's Market. It was a ridiculously hot day, but the boys were troopers as we strolled around the square looking at herbs and plants and popping into the stores. I guess the boys don't care for shopping so much as you can tell from the photo above that they were asleep most of the time...up only to eat of course! But the moms had fun!!!

August and Mommy spend Friday mornings at Grammie's house to have breakfast and coffee and to visit Grammie, Aunt B, & Cousins Grant, Mackenzie and Jack. We gossip, play and usually end up staying for lunch too. Occasionally we sneak in a nap if it is a good day!

While being at home, we have discovered the McHenry River Walk which is a block away from our house. We have been walking it frequently when the weather is nice and Auggie needs to get out and relax. Aunt B and Jack came over last week and we walked down by the river, to the bakery and to the park to play. It was his first park experience and Jack got to show him how to go down the slide. It was a beautiful day and we saw lots of ducks swimming, squirrels, butterflies, dogs and boats. Don't forget the jet ski that Jack wants to own one day! On our way home we saw a bunch of baby ducks sunning on a rock. So sweet!

This photo was taken at night, after we had a bath and were fed! We sat down to read our first book together "Foodie Babies Wear Bibs" sent to us by the Chalker Family in New York! Auggie loved it so much we read it three times before laying our head down to sleep! Mom looks a little exhausted here!

Every May our family walks for our cousin Dana in hopes to find a cure for TS. We always make t-shirts for our "team" members and we walk for two miles in a park in Elk Grove Village. This year, there were two new additions to the team...August and Jax. Aunt Jill made them their own t-shirts and they were so adorable! Though they both had spit-up on the shirts through the course of the day, it made for a terrific picture. They slept the whole time this year. We anticipate many years of walking, next year with a double stroller and then one day a wagon, followed by bikes of course! We love you, Dana!
