It was the first year in a long time that we didn't go somewhere to watch fireworks for the 4th. We felt that with our three month old, it was probably the smart decision to stay away from the crowds, mosquitoes, rain drops, noise and smoke and relax at home. After all, our entire neighborhood puts on a show all night long, or should we say all month long. It's the holiday that keeps on giving around Main Street...much to our dismay. Nothing like laying in bed at midnight at the end of July or better yet, putting your baby to sleep to the loud booms of some illegal fireworks. Does this mean we are getting old? Yikes!!!
So, we decided to make an amazing dinner at home and we are still talking about it, so I thought I would share our pictures. We worked together in the kitchen and created a great meal of Grilled Chicken and Sausage with Scalloped Sweet Corn and Bacon Gratin (cooked right on the grill as it was too hot in the kitchen) as well as Parsley Fried Onion Rings (the herbs all coming from our garden). We commented the other night that we should have a rating system after each meal we make to see if it was better than getting take out or eating out at a restaurant. Lately, we have been voting that dinner at home is far superior! So, just maybe you will see photos of food more often from our kitchen!
We hope you all get to enjoy the summer produce that is popping up in the farmers markets and use up all that charcoal for the grill until you hit the end of summer and say you can't eat another burger or bbq'd chicken breast! Hopefully at that time, it will be time for our newest venture (which I can't wait for!!!!)... making baby food!
