End of July

OUR FAMILY JULY 2010

Of course we have a new photo of Auggie with cousin Jaxon. The newest thing that has captured our heart is that they talk to each other. Here they are babbling (and drooling as you can see) and we could not stop taking photos! It was so incredibly precious to watch and made us all so excited for the months and years ahead!

We have been going to Uncle Leon's for a few years now to watch the baseball all-star game. The guys banter back and forth about the best teams and it is one of the highlights of Pat's summer. We remember last year at the celebration, Jill announced she was pregnant! How time flies! Funny that at this time last year, we were both without kids and now here they are! This year the guys initiated Jaxon and Auggie. They both wore there baseball attire to show their team spirit and got to take a pic with the Godfather of Baseball!

Daddy and Auggie show their team spirit with Cubs outfits.

MOMMY'S FIRST DAY BACK AT WORK PHOTO (the next step up from those first day back to school ones). A bittersweet day as it was nice to be heading out to socialize with adults and have another purpose besides changing diapers but hard to leave that face. Thanks to Grandma Holly for watching August that Friday! And for bringing mommy lunch from Panera before she started her day back.

Auggie and I spent last Tuesday taking a road trip with my friend Robin and her daughter Nora up to Watertown, Wisconsin. Robin was in town for a few days from Philadelphia and we got together with childhood friends Leah and Shana. We spent the afternoon together having lunch and taking care of our six children between us. From left to right, Amelia, Nora, Lucy, Anna, Morgan and Auggie. As you can see, Auggie is the youngest and only boy of the group. How funny! We had a perfect day visiting and picking up where we left off. Since we are all so spread out, it is so hard to get together. But when we do, it is always amazing and makes us remember why friends are so important.

Grandma Holly celebrated her birthday last week at one of our favorite Mexican restaurants, El Puerto. We sat outside on the water and enjoyed chips and salsa, melted cheese and good conversation. Auggie was passed around the table and that made it great for Pat and I to have a hot meal together. I think all parents know about that predicament! He was such a good boy...no parent could be prouder. HAPPY BIRTHDAY GRANDMA HOLLY!

As a parent, it is so incredible to watch your child hit those "milestones" in life. He has been smiling a lot, starting to laugh a little and fascinated with his hands. In the above picture, he is holding a little dog given to him by Aunt Becky. He is starting to hold things with his hands and fingers, he is starting to suck his thumb and he is reaching out to swat or touch things. It is so amazing to see and Pat and I are giddy with excitement watching these things happen before our eyes. We can only imagine what it will be like to watch him crawl, walk or speak! He must now be recognizing us because when I go to get him out of the crib in the morning he smiles and squeals with delight. What a way for a parent to start the day!

Our family spent Saturday at the cabin where I hold a million childhood memories. It was great to share this with my son. We had a nice lunch, dove head-first into Aunt Becky's famous taco dip, strolled around the block, took a boat ride, napped, ate again, sat by the campfire and headed home. Here, Grandpa tries to get Auggie to smile and Grandpa gets a kick out of Auggie sticking his tongue out.

As you can see, all these summer activities make for an exhausted baby. Here is how he lays in his crib at night...Pat and I laugh about this and joke that it looks like he is calling Jesus or that he fell from the sky! Sweet Dreams!

STAY TUNED FOR PICS FROM AUGUST'S UPCOMING BAPTISM NEXT WEEK!!!!
